The Locust Grove community is devastated following the tragic and untimely passing of Aleia Kuhn, age 15, who lost her life in a heartbreaking accident during a youth gathering at Philippi Baptist Church on Wednesday evening.
What should have been a routine and joy-filled night of fellowship turned into a moment that forever altered the lives of Aleia’s family, friends, and the community she so deeply touched.
Aleia was just 34 days away from celebrating her 16th birthday. Though young in years, she was wise in heart — a radiant presence known for her kindness, unwavering faith, and joyful spirit. She was a beloved daughter, loyal friend, devoted teammate, and a shining example of what it means to live with intention and love others well.
Whether she was lighting up the volleyball court, bringing laughter into a classroom, or offering quiet comfort to someone in need, Aleia led with grace and compassion well beyond her age. She loved deeply, smiled freely, and walked through life with a heart rooted in faith. Her mother lovingly describes her as “my backbone and my heart.”
Aleia’s passing leaves an ache that cannot be put into words. As her family and friends begin to navigate this unimaginable loss, the outpouring of love from the Locust Grove community has been a source of strength and comfort.
